Design in a kid’s world.

Sarah Bean lives in Greenpoint Brooklyn with her husband and three boys. She holds a BFA from Parsons School of Design and has a background in fashion, design, retail, and early childhood education. Sarah has lived in Brooklyn for more than a decade where she’s been an active part of a vibrant parenting community. Her aesthetic and understanding of function have been shaped by her own child-centered, urban lifestyle.

Sarah worked at the beloved children’s shop Sam & Seb in Williamsburg early on in her career. She also taught at Williamsburg Northside Preschool where she was inspired by the Reggio Emilia teaching philosophy emphasizing child-led learning and the importance of environment. Those elements remain central to Sarah’s overall design beliefs and approach to her own spaces.

After years of individual projects for family, friends, friends-of-friends, friends-of-friends-of-friends Sarah officially started her own business. Those experiences encouraged Sarah to offer her perspective in a range of child and design related areas. Recently she has worked with brands such as Well Rounded, Motherburg and Dapple. Sarah has also worked on the design of several classrooms, playrooms, nurseries and kids rooms.
